Plant Our Own Vegetables, Grow New Roots
Gardening Event
Growing our own vegetables, living self-sufficiently, nurturing the mind, and finding joy through gardening.
From April 10 to October 30, Huayun Aurora hosted a seasonal gardening program where community members came together to plant, grow, and enjoy fresh vegetables. Participants learned hands-on gardening skills while spending time outdoors, sharing tips, and watching their hard work turn into real harvests. It wasn’t just about growing food—it was about slowing down, connecting with nature, and feeling proud of what they cultivated with their own hands. The program created a friendly space where people of all ages could relax, chat, and find joy in the garden throughout the growing season. For many newcomer families, the garden also served as a symbol of planting new roots in a new country, growing together and building a sense of belonging in their community.

Birthday Celebration
Huayun Aurora hosts birthday parties to celebrate our members together, giving senior immigrants a warm place to connect and feel appreciated.
These gatherings are filled with laughter, shared stories, and familiar cultural traditions, helping everyone feel at home even while living in a new country. For many seniors who may not have family nearby, celebrating birthdays as a group creates a sense of closeness and community. It’s a simple way for people to make friends, support one another, and enjoy meaningful moments together.
Discovering Canada, One Trip at a Time
Group Day Trips
These outings offer more than just sightseeing—they help members learn about local history, discover new places, and become more familiar with their new home. Traveling together also creates shared memories, encourages social connection, and helps seniors feel confident navigating new environments. Through these meaningful experiences, Huayun Aurora supports newcomers in feeling more connected to both the community and the country they now call home.
Passing down Chinese Culture to the New Generations
Taichi Summer Camp
Through simple guided routines, outdoor activities, and cultural games, children explored the basics of Tai Chi while building confidence, coordination, and new friendships. The camp offered a welcoming space for kids to stay active, enjoy the fresh air, and connect with cultural traditions in a meaningful yet playful way. By introducing Tai Chi early on, Huayun Aurora helped spark healthy habits and a positive interest in wellness that can grow with them over time.
